Lake Viñuela – a beautiful place to walk, cycle or barbeque
Just ten minutes’ drive North of Escuela La Crujia is the most magnificent and beautiful man-made reservoir known as La Viñuela. It provinces water for the whole area and often for Malaga city and is essential for our existence here. But it is also a most beautiful place to visit.A tan solo 10 minutos en coche desde Escuela La Crujía se encuentra el magnífico Pantano de la Viñuela. Suministra agua a toda la zona, y regularmente a la ciudad de Málaga. Pero aparte de ser un recurso esencial para nosotros, es un lugar de gran belleza.
From the Escuela, take the A356 North (that is, left at the Bar El Cruce) and drive uphill for around 6 minutes, and as you reach the Southern tip of the lake, take the right hand turning signposted Alhama de Granada. Almost immediately afterwards, turn left, signposted Hotel La Viñuela, and the IMMEDIATE LEFT again, down a little lane leading to a parking area. Here you will find the barbeque area, and beyond, a track that takes you around at least half of the lake shoreline. It makes a lovely walk and if you look carefully you will see plenty of wildlife.
Desde la Escuela, tomad la A356 hacia el Norte (es decir, desde el Bar El Cruce, girad a la izquierda). Después de unos 6 minutos, tomad la carretera a la derecha para Alhama de Granada. Unos instantes después, girar a la izquierda, donde está la señal del Hotel La Viñuela, y de inmediato, otra vez girar a la izquierda, por un carrilcito que llega a un parking. Desde aquí se entra en la zona de barbacoas, y más allá, empieza el carril que sigue por lo menos la mitad de la ribera del pantano. Mantened un ojo y un oído, al pasear, que aquí hay mucha naturaleza y fauna para ver.
