Day Trips from the Escuela
Lake Viñuela – a beautiful place to walk, cycle or barbeque
Just ten minutes’ drive North of Escuela La Crujia is the most magnificent and beautiful man-made reservoir known as La Viñuela. It provinces water for the whole area and often for Malaga city and is essential for our existence here. But it is also a most beautiful place to visit.
Day trip: Nerja caves, Frigiliana and the lost village of Acebuchal
Visit the world famous caves, following by a stroll through the picturesque nearby village of Frigiliana, maybe a spot of lunch, and on to a lost mountain village full of surprises!
Day trip: Villanueva de la Concepción, El Torcal and Antequera
A most pretty, unexplored country town lies in the hills between Malaga and Antequera, practically undiscovered – Villanueva de la Concepción, with its magnificent backdrop of the El Torcal mountain range, is well worth a visit!
Day trip, walking and swimming: La Alcaicería, Los Ventorros and El Pato Loco
If you wish to combine nature and a leisurely walk through beautiful countryside in the shade of a canopy of poplar trees along a river bank, followed by lunch, and a cool splash and a sun bathe, this is a great day trip to make from Escuela La Crujia
Day trip to Alhama de Granada
This lovely town is totally trapped in time! It still has very old fashioned little shops and lovely, crumbling buildings that look more central European than Southern Spanish! Perched precariously on steep, deep ‘tajo’ (gorge), this is a most ‘visitable’, picturesque town, frequented by walking groups and curious tourists and well worth a day trip.
