Walking trees in Velez!
At each end of a small tree-lined walkway near the town centre of Velez-Malaga, known as the Paseo de Andalucía, are what we generally call the “Walking trees” and they are certainly worth a look.
Day trip: Nerja caves, Frigiliana and the lost village of Acebuchal
Visit the world famous caves, following by a stroll through the picturesque nearby village of Frigiliana, maybe a spot of lunch, and on to a lost mountain village full of surprises!
Day trip to Alhama de Granada
This lovely town is totally trapped in time! It still has very old fashioned little shops and lovely, crumbling buildings that look more central European than Southern Spanish! Perched precariously on steep, deep ‘tajo’ (gorge), this is a most ‘visitable’, picturesque town, frequented by walking groups and curious tourists and well worth a day trip.
Playa del Cañuelo
As a beach, top marks, in our opinion!!
Quiet, secluded, and a snorkeling paradise!
Granada city and the Albaicin
If you are visiting Southern Spain, the wonderful, inspiring and once-in-a-lifetime experience that is a visit to Granada’s glistening jewel, the Alhambra Palace, MUST be on your list! And much, much more besides in this fascinating and ancient city.
Río Chillar – a river walk
Río Chillar is a river walk with a difference – you walk IN THE RIVER!!
Shopping in Vélez-Málaga
This is not a bad place to shop!
First and most obvioulsy, a 7 minute drive in the direction of the coast, from Escuela La Crujia will take you to the El Ingenio shopping centre.
Chiringuito Beach Bars
The Costa del Sol is famous for its beach bars, known here as Chiringuitos. They are well worth trying out, and vary from simple barbequed sardines to meat on skewers, to simply chill-out bars.
Vélez-Málaga – a tour
Fascinating and historic Vélez-Málaga, capital city of the area of La Axarquía, is our home town and well worth a thorough tour
