At Escuela La Crujia we have endeavoured to create a peaceful, private and personal environment for our guests.

Whilst each room has its privacy, with its own front door and patio area, where you can relax, eat, read, in your own area, we offer some top quality communal facilities:

The Old Schoolroom

This has been converted into a comfortable guest living and breakfast room.  There is no TV here, just peace and quiet.  It is the breakfast room each morning, giving our guests a chance to meet each other and enjoy the lovely surroundings together over breakfast.  It is also a library, with a large selection of books in both Spanish and English.  We also have a shelf of books to SWAP, where you may take a book in exchange for one you have read during your stay or upon your departure.

The schoolroom also has a lounge area to relax on the sofa and read or enjoy a drink with family and friends.  In the Winter guests are free to light the fire in the open fireplace.  Wood is usually available.  Guests may also choose to eat a meal they have prepared in their kitchens in the old schoolhall too.  We can provide any extras required such as serving dishes, table cloths and serviettes.

The gardens

From the rooms,  pretty gravel pathways lead to the gardens, with a level open area laid partly to lawns and partly to fruit orchards and flower beds, and all around the mandarin trees which still remain from when this piece of land was part of a productive mandarin grove.  Here you will find the swimming pool (8 x 4m) with sun terrace and sun loungers, plus extra tables and chairs for outdoor dining.  There is a brick-built barbeque with sink and large table for all our guests to enjoy.

In the gardens there is also a large trampoline fro the children, table tennis table, a very traditional Spanish ‘frog’ game to test your skills at getting the chips into the frog’s mouth, and a boxing bag and gloves.

At night, the gardens are magical, with pretty garden lights, complemented by the sparkling lights of the town of Velez-Malaga in the distance and, of course, the endless glittering of millions of stars in the night sky!  A midnight dip in the pool in Summer is highly recommended too!
